Fat Freddy’s Drop – Shiverman

OMG!!

I have been diggin Fat Freddy’s Drop for the past year or so. I have been listening to their 1.5 albums and never seem to tire of them. On a lark I Google’d them today only to discover that they have a new album coming out in a month =)

I then saw a link to the YouTube video above and believe this would be my perfect concert right now: Funk, Reggae and House with lyrics of love and progress. What more could I ask for? Their horns a tight, they have a great sense of rhythm, Joe Dukie (their lead singer) is fantastic! They even take a bunch story lines from Parliament/Funkadelic all the way down to Sir Nose D’Voidoffunk and Shiverman.

So off I go to explore links while looking forward to their release next month.

My first stop was their MySpace page. Reading down the page a bit I see where I can purchase and download the album right now. Fortunately I have a great friend in New Zealand [What-up Graeme!] and used his addy to get around any international sale restrictions. And what do you know… I am now the proud owner of Fat Freddy’s Drop’s latest album along with three tracks I previously could not find by Joe Dukie and DJ Fitchie!!! Woot! I love the internet =)

I found this great podcast by a Canadian who wants to introduce them to Canada.

I mean, come on, look at the video below. How can you not love these guys?!?!?! Play through the rain, signing about the Shiverman!!

“Be friends people. Live safe!”
