4 Tastes Of Absinthe

4 Tastes Of Absinthe

So the Skinners just got back from a 3 week vacation in Europe. Kristin was fortunate enough to visit a fantastic Absinthe shop while in Paris. She brought back three tastes.

I think we can all agree that our local St. George’s Spirits Absinthe Verte is good indeed. It is fortunate that of all of them, this is the one we have in abundance. Figures 😉

The small vile was good but we did not have enough to sample it correctly. The first sip seemed light and airy but did not have enough flavor for my tastes. Kristin liked it fine but wanted to test it against the other three before making up her mind.

The Duplo knocked everyone on their ass! While we figured out how to drink it (burn an Absinthe infused sugar cube and stir it into a full serving and then add a hefty amount of water!) it was everything and more of what we think of when we refer to the mystique of Absinthe. Damn!

We had the greatest disagreement on the red stuff. Margaret and Dan liked it a lot. I could not drink it no matter what we did to it. Reminded me of Tequila – sometimes you just have to give up on certain poisons =) The group drank more of it than any of the others…

Of note: All three bottles are beautiful and fun to have on a shelf. The design and marketing of Absinthe is a lot of the fun. When the red stuff is gone, I plan to steal the bottle!
