I would add that Clinton’s message of fear and code words for the scary “other” taking control resonates with those whose lives have been shaped by fear. When you are rural, even if you are poor and uneducated, you are in control of your destiny. When you have left a large city due to decline and crime, you fear that which you do not know. And it is easy for Clinton to appear as a strong, stable, unifying choice – even if she is not.<\/p>\n
