Yes, there are fewer black jazz musicians than there were, say 30 years ago, but why no black musicians this year? Very strange. I think (the new) Yoshi&#8217;s is pretty much run strictly as a business, so maybe that explains something.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Yup. If things do not matter, people do not notice. Obviously, working with black musicians is not a big deal for either Berkeley or Yoshi&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p>In my opine, most racism is not intentional&#8230; it is passive and only because folks feel comfortable working with people who are like them. Most folks define &#8220;like them&#8221; at some level to include the color of their skin.
