O Happy Day! By Marisa | February 21st, 2006
It’s been six months or so, but our very favorite nonprofit website project is finally live! Look at the before:
… and then check out the AFTER:
. The old site was very text-heavy and the code was, well … dirtier than Paris Hilton’s diary. The new site is modern-looking, gorgeous, lightweight, standards-based, flexible and allows them to offer weekly online discount deals and secure online donations. Go check it out! People’s Grocery, if you haven’t heard of them, is a community organization based in West Oakland. Their mission is deceptively simple: bring healthy food to low-income communities at prices poor folks can actually afford. They are doing some amazing things around urban gardening, nutrition education, and their flagship program is this fantastic purple and orange truck with a boomin’ solar powered sound system, that drives around West Oakland selling organic and healthy food to people who can’t get to the one grocery store in town. We are just extremely proud to be a part of their effort and very pleased to present their new site. People’s Grocery

Hey! time for some shameless self-promotion and shout-outs to my peeps.
Well, if you've read this far, why not? This blog runs on Kick-ass Wordpress, the best blog software in the world using the Crimson Milk theme by Andrew Sutherland because Marisa is just way too lazy to make her own. Did you realize you can move stuff around? Try it. It's Ajax-a-licious. Grab something with your mouse and scootch it wherever you want it to be.Technorati thinks I'm cool. You should too.
