Hawaii Here We Come:

When you people are driving me absolutely crazy, I just go look at the magnificent home I’m going to be spending a week in at the end of this month:

And it all seems better …

Who needs a boyfriend? By Marisa | February 4th, 2006

Went to a Thai restaurant tonight with the boop. He, of course, enchanted all the women working there with his usual antics and happy demeanor, and they brought him some ice cream as a reward for his cuteness. He’s eating his ice cream, scooping it up all by himself and getting most of it into his mouth. Then I ask him, hey, can Mama have some? He scoops up a …

Cooking with Marisa Part 1:

Strategies for the lazy and distracted gourmand

some chicken broth
some fresh mushroom stems I happened to have lying around
salt

Heat oven to 350. Cut the peppers in half, clean out the seeds and the bitter white part. Toss them in the oven along with the garlic after brushing a …

A sucker for good marketing … or, the straight poop By Marisa | February 1st, 2006

[editor’s note: This post won me the “customer of the year” award from gDiapers! And a lovely lunch with their charming CEO. Dang, I need to blog more often!!] Recently I found out about a new system of diapering - flushable diaps! This is very exciting to the mother of a 19-month-old. Look, I like the earth and all, but I think cloth diapers and washing them …

Why I love MarketingProfs By Marisa | January 18th, 2006

About a year ago, a colleague mentioned that there was an online seminar about how to write better web content. I was new at YVOD and thought it would be interesting. Our then salesperson, CEO, Art Director and I gathered in a room and watched the presentation. It was phenomenal.

The speaker? Gerry McGovern. The people who brought his ideas into my life: Marketingprofs.

So the seminar was a hundred bucks, …

And to think: I owe it all to my TI 99-4a By Marisa | December 17th, 2005

http://www.tv.cream.org/extras/toys/toptoys1001.htm

That’s a site I found via StumbleUpon, my new favorite addiction, that waxes reminiscent of old-school toys, one of which is the Commodore 64 “computer”. Flashback to 4th grade. My Texas Instruments 99-4A. I taught myself how to program in BASIC from a book. BASIC … where you gave each line of code a number, and you had to go by tens, in case you wanted to come back and …

Random musings of the day By Marisa | December 16th, 2005

My personality is almost exactly like “Rabbit” from Winnie the Pooh. Grumpy, bossy, overly concerned with how things “ought” to be done, and secretly softhearted underneath.

Linus and Lucy aka the Peanuts song always brings a smile to my face. A Charlie Brown Christmas is just a damn fine jazz album.

Is Baby Einstein really making my kid smarter, or am I just using that as an excuse to plop him in …

Why I like Christmas By Marisa | December 16th, 2005

A friend of mine is a Scrooge. Bah humbug and all that. He hates Christmas (I think) because of what it has become - another excuse for rampant consumerism. Personally, I love Christmas. It’s the only thing I like about winter, being a big fan of summer. Why? What is it about Christmas that appeals to me? I think, deep down, because of what it represents to humanity over the …
